In the top compartment are two groups of mounted Egyptian soldiers riding from right to left. The group on the right is led by a soldier wearing a helmet and carrying a red banner with a gold heraldic lion on it. Behind him the crowned Pharaoh is riding a white horse. One of the soldiers in the group on the left is holding a blue shield with a fleur-de-lys on it. Inscribed with Ex. 14:7-8. — In the lower compartment are the Israelites, men, women and children, crossing the Red Sea. Above and below them is the water with fish, weapons and parts of the dead Egyptians’ bodies. Pharaoh’s crowned head emerges from the waves. On the right stands Moses holding his rod aloft. Inscribed with Ex. 14:16 (very faint).
