In the lower part of the initial word panel containing his name is the bearded, bare-headed Rabbi, sitting before a round, revolving lectern displaying two open books. In front of him are two pupils, siting on a stool and holding books. In the rich foliage scroll framing the page are a man holding the ends of the scroll at the bottom, a hound, two rabbits, a snail, a stork, dragon, partridges and other birds.
